Meet Patricia

Patricia N. Smith was born and raised in St. Louis County, Missouri, where her parents instilled in her the values of independent thinking, personal responsibility, faith, and strong moral character. They taught her to value facts, care deeply for family, and remain grounded in her Christian faith.

Patricia later moved to West Virginia with her husband, where they raised two children. During that time, she built a distinguished career in education while also navigating the challenges of single motherhood. She earned two master’s degrees in education and dedicated her professional life to serving students and families. Over the course of her career, she worked as a special education teacher, elementary educator, reading teacher, curriculum specialist, and ultimately retired as an elementary school principal.

Thirteen years ago, Patricia moved to Tennessee to be closer to her grandchildren and has proudly called Sandersville Station home ever since. Believing strongly in the importance of civic engagement and fair elections, she became an election worker shortly after settling in Sumner County.

Patricia became actively involved in local government when efforts began to remove certain books from Sumner County school libraries. Determined to stand up for students, parents, and intellectual freedom, she began speaking at school board and county commission meetings in opposition to book bans in both school and public libraries.

Today, Patricia enjoys gardening, exercising, spending time with her grandchildren, and singing in her church choir. She remains committed to serving her community with integrity, compassion, and common sense.
